The WakeHereward Project, a community project designed to raise the profile of folklore hero Hereward the Wake across his native Fenlands, are in production of a six part documentary about the famous resistance leader.
Filming of 'The Hereward Story' began in Ely w/c 9th January and is ongoing. Each episode will feature a guest interview and be filmed at particular locations where Hereward's name is associated - Bourne, Crowland, Peterborough, Ely and others. Filming in Bourne is due to take place on April 1st and 2nd.
The documentary, due to be broadcast on the Hereward Country YouTube Channel from the Spring, is being produced in association with David Johnson of DMJ Imagery and presented by Vita Lucia.
On Saturday, 28th January, the production team were at Crowland Abbey where guest speaker for the evening's event David Maile was regaling tales of the English resistance to the Norman Conquest and promoting the WakeHereward Project. More details to follow...
